When deciding which Crisis Fragment to farm first—Weathered, Faded, or Ancient—in Path of Exile 2, the choice largely depends on your build’s strengths, personal comfort, and farming efficiency rather than a strict “best” fragment.

Weathered Crisis Fragment drops from the Stone Citadel, typically found in forest and grassy biomes. This Citadel and its boss encounters tend to be more challenging, requiring good sustain, mobility, and damage output. If your build excels in handling those biome types and tougher boss mechanics, starting with Weathered can be rewarding.

Ancient Crisis Fragment comes from the Iron Citadel, which also shares forest and grass biome themes but generally presents a more balanced difficulty. Many players consider farming Ancient fragments first because it offers solid boss fights that aren’t overwhelmingly difficult, making it ideal for building confidence and steady fragment farming efficiency.

Faded Crisis Fragment originates from the Copper Citadel, located in desert biomes that introduce more mechanical complexity. The desert environment can pose extra challenges, such as movement impairments and harder boss mechanics. If your build is highly mobile and capable of quick positioning, you may find farming Faded fragments viable, and the Faded Fragment often commands a higher market price.

Practically, efficiency is boosted by maximizing your Waystone Drop Chance through atlas passive skills and crafting, as this influences how many fragments drop per Citadel run regardless of the specific fragment.

It’s recommended to start farming the Ancient Crisis Fragment for an approachable balance, progress to Weathered Crisis Fragment as you grow more confident, and attempt Faded Crisis Fragment farming once you have the gear and mobility to handle desert biome challenges. Tailoring your farming to your build and Atlas progression ensures the best farming speed and fragment yield.
