JustinParticipantTo unlock the Trialmaster fight in Path of Exile 2, you need to collect three special fate fragments: Cowardly Fate, Deadly Fate, and Victorious Fate. These fragments drop only after completing the 10-round Trial of Chaos and defeating one of the three unique bosses that appear in the final round. Each boss drops a specific fate fragment Uxmal, the Beastlord, drops the Cowardly Fate; Bahlak, the Sky Seer, drops the Deadly Fate; and Chetza, the Feathered Plague, drops the Victorious Fate.
Since the bosses appearing in the 10th round are random, you’ll likely need to complete the entire Trial of Chaos multiple times to collect all three fate fragments. Alternatively, these fragments can be obtained through trade if farming proves too challenging. Once you have all three fragments, you can head to the final room at the end of the Trial of Chaos area and find a locked door. Interacting with this door lets you insert each fate fragment in its respective slot.
Inserting the Cowardly, Deadly, and Victorious Fates unlocks the door to the Trialmaster’s Tower, granting access to the Trialmaster boss fight. This encounter is a significant challenge featuring complex mechanics and deadly attacks. Defeating the Trialmaster rewards you with additional ascendancy points, unique items, and further opportunities to farm valuable gear. The fight requires good positioning, timing, and awareness of the Trialmaster’s devastating area attacks.
It’s important to note that you only get one chance per attempt: if you die during the Trialmaster fight, you must farm the fate fragments again by completing the Trial of Chaos. Therefore, preparing your build and mastering the Trial of Chaos mechanics are crucial before taking on this ultimate challenge.
Using the Cowardly Fate to unlock the Trialmaster involves collecting all three fate fragments through repeated runs of the 10-round Trial of Chaos, placing them into the locked door at the trial’s end, and then entering the Trialmaster’s arena to face this punishing final boss. This unlocks new content and rewards critical to progressing your character’s ascendancy and gear.
