The Three Crisis Fragments and Their Sources
Faded Crisis Fragment: Obtained by defeating the faction leader in the Copper Citadel, which is typically found in desert biomes.
Ancient Crisis Fragment: Drops from the boss in the Iron Citadel, commonly located in forest or grassland biomes.
Weathered Crisis Fragment: Comes from the boss in the Stone Citadel, found in mountainous or coastal areas with pyramid-like structures.
How to Obtain Each Fragment
Locate Citadels on the Atlas: Citadels appear as special, randomly spawning map nodes (Iron, Copper, Stone Citadels). They open only if you use Tier 15 Waystones.
Complete the Citadel boss fights: Each Citadel is guarded by a unique faction leader (a modified Act boss) and two lieutenants that must be defeated first.
Obtain the Crisis Fragment: Defeating the faction leader rewards you with the corresponding Crisis Fragment. You can get multiples by increasing Waystone Drop Chance with suffix stacking and Atlas passive tree adjustments.
Collect all three: You must gather all three fragments from their respective Citadels.
Using the Fragments
Once you have all three Crisis Fragments, you can insert them into The Burning Monolith, which unlocks an encounter with the Arbiter of Ash—the pinnacle endgame boss.
Alternatively, fragments are valuable trade items and can be sold on the market for high amounts of currency (such as Exalted or Divine Orbs) if you prefer to fund other upgrades.
Tips for Efficient Collection
Progress linearly on the Atlas, moving consistently in one direction to reveal more Citadel spawns.
Use high-suffix Waystones (corrupted with six suffixes if possible) and respec atlas passives to maximize Waystone Drop Chance.
Rush maps quickly to discover new Citadels before farming them thoroughly.
Use loot filters to highlight Crisis Fragments and essential currency drops.
Assess your build readiness for the Arbiter fight before committing to use the fragments or opt to trade them.
By combining steady Atlas exploration, efficient Citadel farming, and strategic use or trade of your Crisis Fragments, you will unlock The Burning Monolith and challenge the ultimate endgame content in Path of Exile 2.
