JustinParticipantWhen deciding whether to use or trade the Faded Crisis Fragment in Path of Exile 2, consider the following factors to make the best choice based on your goals, progression stage, and playstyle:
1. Using the Faded Crisis Fragment
Progression Priority: If your primary goal is to unlock the Arbiter of Ash fight—the pinnacle endgame boss—using the fragment directly is essential. Collecting all three Crisis Fragments (including Faded Crisis) and placing them at the Burning Monolith unlocks this challenging and rewarding boss encounter.
Endgame Challenge: Facing the Arbiter offers access to exclusive, high-tier rewards and is a major milestone in your PoE 2 journey. If your build is strong enough and you want to push your gameplay to the highest levels, using the fragment is the way to go.
Personal Achievement: For many players, conquering the Arbiter is a key achievement and a demonstration of mastery, making the fragment invaluable for personal satisfaction and progression.
2. Trading the Faded Crisis Fragment
Market Value: The Faded Crisis Fragment commands a high price on the player market—often tens to hundreds of Exalted Orbs—due to its rarity and necessity. Selling it can yield a substantial influx of currency which can be reinvested in gear, crafting materials, or other currencies to improve your overall build.
Farming Challenge: Efficiently farming additional fragments requires investment in high-tier maps, crafted Waystones with high drop chance, and optimized Atlas passive builds, not to mention strong clearing speed and survivability. If farming is too slow or frustrating, trading is a convenient alternative.
Resource Flexibility: Currency gained from trading the fragment can accelerate other parts of your progression, such as upgrading gear, enhancing skill gems with Jeweller’s Orbs, or investing in maps and crafting. This can ultimately make your character stronger and better prepared for endgame content, including later attempts at the Arbiter.
Balancing the Decision
If you are ready for the endgame pinnacle challenge and value the experience and rewards of the Arbiter fight, use your Faded Crisis Fragment as part of your progression.
If you currently lack the gear or build strength to tackle the Arbiter, or prefer to strengthen your character first, consider trading the fragment for currency to accelerate your overall power.
Some players adopt a hybrid approach: farm and use one or two fragments while trading excess ones to fund their build, balancing progression and economic gain.
The choice hinges on your immediate goals—whether you prioritize entering the pinnacle boss fight or maximizing character growth and wealth through trading. Both paths offer valuable benefits, and understanding your playstyle and timing will help you make the best decision with your Faded Crisis Fragments.
